When clients or fashion designers book models for fashion shows, photo shoots or commercials, especially for larger productions or more elaborate shows, models are invited to a fitting in advance. The purpose of this process is to ensure that the clothes and accessories fit perfectly and create the desired look envisioned by the advertising agency ‘s or fashion designer’s creative team.

What happens during the fitting?

During the fitting, the garments and accessories previously selected or purchased by stylists are worn and adjusted. As a model, you are often present directly with the designer in the showroom or already at the production or shooting location. How long does a fitting take?

A quick fitting usually only takes 15 to 30 minutes, during which time all the garments are tried on. Fittings can also be a whole day’s booking, i.e. around 8 hours, depending on the designer, collection and number of garments.

If adjustments are still required, there is usually time until the next day to make them.
