Sedcard Shoot: A Multi-Faceted Location and a Top Fashion Photographer
A suitcase full of makeup, a motivated model, various backdrops. For a sedcard shoot with our model Katie, our CM Models team headed close to the Rhine. In Deutz, on the forecourt of an office building, there’s a versatile location that, thanks to its different backdrops, is perfect for a multi-faceted sedcard shoot. With a makeup artist, photographer, model and good weather, the shoot could begin. Michelle tells you what it looked like behind the scenes during the shoot.
Sedcard Shoot: A Windy Start
It’s windy when our CM Models team arrives in Deutz. Our makeup artist Anschi and our model aren’t bothered by that and get straight to freshening up the makeup. Back in our studio in Mediapark, the basic makeup had already been applied, the hair straightened, and the different outfit options tried on. Our model Katie will pose first in a sassy, clean outfit: a short shirt, tight blue jeggings and high sandals, optionally with a biker-style leather jacket. Our photographer Oli takes the first test photos. The weather is good, with the sun peeking through the clouds again and again. One more quick brush through the hair, then it’s time to start.
Sedcard Essential: Clean Shots
Katie poses for the first photos in front of a clean, glossy black wall. This location in Deutz has many facets. Our photographer explains that this very versatility is what makes the chosen location special. There are many different options for different types of shots. In front of a clean wall, on benches surrounded by greenery, on futuristic round seating islands with trees, or on the big white staircase with a view of the Rhine and Cologne Cathedral. A new angle: in front of a mirrored house wall, or further down, away from the forecourt, in front of a slightly dirty wall that’s great for edgier shots. Katie walks back and forth in front of the clean wall, the wind blowing through her hair. She gives her best, almost every shot a hit. Katie’s intensely blue eyes shine and we’re thrilled.
Versatile: From Clean & Sassy to Sexy & Rocky
The wind dies down, but it’s gotten cooler. The next outfit is up. The T-shirt is swapped for a long, black, sheer blouse with long slits, and the blue jeggings for black ones. Katie changes around the corner behind our reflector. She’s cold, goosebumps forming on her arms, but she grits her teeth. It’s important that none of that shows in the pictures. She stays professional. Our makeup artist sets up eyeshadow palettes on a wall and gets small hair ties ready. Katie gets a rockier look, her blue eyes accentuated with a dark smokey-eye look. Her hair is draped into a sexy mane with big and small braids. Anschi puts in a lot of effort, and after barely 20 minutes we see the sensational result, GORGEOUS!
A Wide Selection of Shots – Many Angles
Oli gets to work on a few portrait shots. Katie sits casually on a seating island and poses. Her gazes are strong, she shifts her expressions in a controlled way. A sultry look, a clean look, a fierce look – Katie has plenty to offer our photographer. Oli is satisfied; for him it’s a successful shoot since he doesn’t have to give many directions: Katie knows what she’s doing. To match the sexy rocker outfit, our team moves to the edgy, stylishly dirty wall. Our model’s black blouse flutters in the wind around her slim legs. Her nude-colored lips are slightly parted, her blue eyes gazing provocatively into the camera lens. SEDUCTIVE! The panorama in the background is DREAMY. The sun shines through the clouds, the cathedral standing majestically over everything. Oli clicks away and the flash goes off, the memory card’s capacity is soon nearly full. The sedcard shoot is a success. We have a wide selection of shots from different angles & with various poses for Katie’s sedcard.
To wrap things up, even the photographer briefly steps in front of the lens. He wants a few snapshots of himself and his muse Katie. Oli looks great in front of the camera, he’s totally got the posing down. A decisive advantage for a photographer, since he knows exactly what he expects from a model and can demonstrate and explain the poses precisely. Our makeup artist packs up her makeup case, brush by brush. Katie quickly puts on something warmer. We take a quick test look at a few of the shoot photos and are delighted. GOOD JOB!
